Arena Football League games are no longer scheduled to be televised at all on NFL Network for the 2024 AFL season. The official word of the telecast cancellations came from an NFL spokesperson in response to an inquiry from Arena Insider’s Anthony Carter after TV listings showed week two and three AFL telecasts had been pulled.
The National Football League did not give any reason for the severing of the NFL Network agreement with the Arena Football League. It seems likely that the recent avalanche of negative publicity from financial issues with the Philadelphia Soul and venue issues with the Oregon Blackbears & Louisiana VooDoo teams contributed to the disassociation.
Previously scheduled AFL games slotted for NFL Network are expected to continue being streamed instead by the Vyre TV platform instead for the remainder of the AFL season, for however the season lasts. Today’s folding of the Iowa Rampage franchise and rumors of potential similar collapses by other franchises place the AFL’s future in serious question.
