A Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect Tuesday, September 24 to 4 am Wednesday, September 25, 2024 including the following Washington, DC region jurisdictions.

VIRGINIA: Arlington, Alexandria.

…COASTAL FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EDT WEDNESDAY…

* WHAT…Around two feet of inundation above ground level in low lying areas due to tidal flooding.

* WHERE…Shoreline in the District of Columbia, Arlington County, and the City of Alexandria.

* WHEN…Until 4 AM EDT Wednesday, especially around the time of high tide.

* IMPACTS…The unprotected area on the Southwest Waterfront at the DC Seafood Market is expected to flood. Water is expected to approach parts of the Hains Point Loop Road, but it will likely be closed. Water is expected to approach buildings near King Street and Union Street..

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Tides two to two and a half feet above normal. The next high tide at Alexandria is at 2:18 PM and 2:34 AM. The next high tide at Washington Channel is at 2:16 AM and 3:06 PM.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.

* WHAT…Around two feet of inundation above ground level in low lying areas due to tidal flooding.

* WHERE…Shoreline in St. Marys County.

* WHEN…Until 10 PM EDT this evening, especially around the time of high tide.

* IMPACTS…At 3.5 feet, water covers roads on Saint George Island, is in yards, and is approaching structures. To the east, inundation is occurring at multiple marinas off St. Mary`s River, Smith Creek, and Jutland Creek.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Tides two to two and a half feet above normal. The next high tide at Point Lookout is at 7:54 PM and 7:46 AM. The next high tide at Piney Point is at 8:22 PM and 9:12 AM. The next high tide at Coltons Point is at 8:58 PM and 9:48 AM.

* WHAT…Two to two and half feet of inundation above ground level in low lying areas due to tidal flooding.

* WHERE…Shoreline in Anne Arundel County.

* WHEN…Until 6 AM EDT Thursday, especially around the time of high tide.

* IMPACTS…At 3.5 feet, water reaches the floor of the Maritime Museum in Annapolis, begins to cover Bowyer Road on the Naval Academy campus, and numerous businesses on Dock Street are flooded, along with the City Dock parking lot. Bayside Beach begins to flood around Harbor Rd and Lake Dr.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Tides two to two and a half feet above normal. The next high tide at Annapolis U.S. Naval Academy is at 12:16 AM and 11:31 AM.

* WHAT…One to two feet of inundation above ground level in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.

* WHERE…Westmoreland and Northumberland Counties.

* WHEN…Until midnight EDT tonight.

* IMPACTS…Widespread flooding of vulnerable areas will result in an elevated threat of property damage to homes and businesses near the waterfront and shoreline. Water will be 1 to 2 feet above ground level in some areas resulting in a sufficient depth to close numerous roads and threaten homes and businesses. Flooding will extend inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays resulting in some road closures and flooding of vehicles.
