D.C. United renews radio with iHeartMedia for 2024

D.C. United announced today that it has extended its partnership with iHeartMedia to again air radio broadcasts of the team via WTSD 1190 (iHeart Sports DC) & 101.1 HD2. For the second consecutive season, longtime broadcaster Dave Johnson and Bruce Murray will pair up on radio calls for D.C. United, starting with Saturday’s home game against CF Montreal.

Per Major League Soccer’s agreement with Apple TV, the radio calls of all D.C. United home games including this Saturday’s game will again be available as an audio option on the service’s subscription Apple TV MLS Pass package. The radio calls of all D.C. United games will also again be available via the iHeartRadio app.

iHeartMedia had aired audio simulcasts of D.C. United’s telecasts on the then-NBC Sports Washington back in 2022. It then agreed to air dedicated DCU radio calls in 2023 after Apple TV picked up full worldwide Major League Soccer television rights. The radio agreement was not renewed though in time for the start of the 2024 season, leaving D.C. United without any local calls of its games this season until now.

UPDATE: One correction of the D.C. United press release per iHeartMedia, D.C. United games will not air via iHeart’s 104.7 FM signal. 104.7 was switched last July from iHeart Sports DC to a conservative talk format branded as Freedom 104.7. DCU games will still air via 1190 AM, 101.1 HD2 and the iHeartRadio app.
