The DCRTV website long known for reporting media news, rumors and gossip in the Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD markets is back in operation after a two plus year absence. Former DC radio worker and longtime DCRTV fan Dan Lane announced the return of the site on the site Friday evening as its new owner and operator.
DCRTV was founded and had been solely operated by media blogger Dave Hughes until his death in December 2021 with the site going dormant and then offline altogether months afterward. The dcrtv.com web domain was subsequently purchased via online auction by Lane in early March of this year with the expressed plan to revive DCRTV.
In addition to its trademark media news and gossip, Lane also intends to start a new DCRTV podcast featuring interviews with local media personalities, the first of which featuring Hound Radio’s Loo Katz will go up later this month. The site’s mailbag page for discussion of local media by enthusiasts and professionals will also be revived.
