Falcons-Commanders flexed to Sunday Night Football

The Atlanta Falcons at Washington Commanders game scheduled for the weekend of Sunday, December 29 has been officially flexed to Sunday Night Football for airing at 8:20 pm EST on NBC. The game is the second Commanders game of the season to be flexed to a more favorable timeslot and the first to be flexed to a nighttime & fully national timeslot.

NBC had sought to flex the Washington Commanders at Baltimore Ravens game in a battle of star quarterbacks to Sunday Night Football earlier this year but CBS protected that particular game from being flexed off of its afternoon lineup. The Chicago Bears at Washington Commanders game had been flexed from 1 to 4:25 pm ET while remaining with CBS.

Both the Falcons and Commanders are currently contending at the moment for what would be the final NFC wild card spot in the postseason though the Falcons may be eliminated from contention by the time the game takes place. The Commanders will host the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday in a game that itself will air in most of the U.S. via FOX.
