A Flood Warning is in effect to 4 am Wednesday, August 7, 2024 including the following Washington, DC region jurisdictions.

MARYLAND: Baltimore, Carroll, Harford.

…FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EDT EARLY THIS MORNING…

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…Portions of north central and northern Maryland, including the following counties, in north central Maryland, Carroll. In northern Maryland, Baltimore and Harford.

* WHEN…Until 400 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding of creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 1201 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen in the past hour, with localized totals up to 2.5 inches since 8 PM Tuesday evening.
– Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area.

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
