A Flood Warning is now in effect to 3 pm Saturday, September 28, 2024 including the following Washington, DC region jurisdictions.

VIRGINIA: Greene, Madison, Page, Rockingham.

…FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON…

* WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE…Portions of central, northwest, and western Virginia, including the following counties, in central Virginia, Greene. In northwest Virginia, Madison and Page. In western Virginia, Rockingham.

* WHEN…Until 300 PM EDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 842 AM EDT, Flooding continues along the South Fork Shenandoah River. At 745 AM, the river was at 16.6 ft and rising and approaching moderate flooding.
– Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

* WHEN…Until 230 PM EDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

– At 823 AM EDT, At 745 AM, the Robinson River at Locust Dale was 12.6 ft and rising and flood stage is 11 ft.
