A Flood Watch remains in effect to 5 pm Friday, January 31, 2025 for the following Washington, DC region jurisdictions.

MARYLAND: Garrett.
WEST VIRGINIA: western Grant.

…FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON…

  • WHAT…Flooding caused by excessive rainfall and melting snowpack is possible.
  • WHERE…Portions of western Maryland, including the following area, Garrett and eastern West Virginia, including the following area, Western Grant.
  • WHEN…Until 5 PM EST this afternoon.

  • IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…

    • Heavy rainfall on top of residual snowpack will lead to increased runoff concerns. 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected across the watch area today. The combination of one to two inches of rain combined with 2 to 5 inches of snow water liquid equivalent from remaining snowpack on the ground will lead to flooding concerns.

  • WHERE…Portions of western Virginia, including the following area, Western Highland and eastern West Virginia, including the following area, Western Pendleton.
  • WHEN…Until 8 PM EST this evening.
