A Flood Watch remains in effect Thursday, August 29, 2024 to 12 am including the following Washington, DC region jurisdictions.

MARYLAND: Washington, Frederick, central/eastern Allegany, Montgomery.
VIRGINIA: Frederick, Page, Warren, Clarke, Nelson, Albemarle, Greene, Madison, Rappahannock, Orange, Culpeper, Fairfax, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Fauquier, Loudoun, Blue Ridge, Prince William, Manassas, Manassas Park.
WEST VIRGINIA: Hampshire, Morgan, Berkeley, Jefferson, eastern Mineral.

…FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT TONIGHT…

* WHAT…Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.

* WHERE…Portions of Maryland, including the following areas, Central and Eastern Allegany, Central and Southeast Montgomery, Frederick MD, Northwest Montgomery and Washington, Virginia, including the following areas, Albemarle, Central Virginia Blue Ridge, Central and Southeast Prince William/Manassas/Manassas Park, Clarke, Culpeper, Eastern Loudoun, Fairfax, Frederick VA, Greene, Madison, Nelson, Northern Fauquier, Northern Virginia Blue Ridge, Northwest Prince William, Orange, Page, Rappahannock, Southern Fauquier, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Warren and Western Loudoun, and West Virginia, including the following areas, Berkeley, Eastern Mineral, Hampshire, Jefferson and Morgan.

* WHEN…Until midnight EDT tonight.

* IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– Repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms will continue to traverse across the area this evening. An additional one to three inches of rain is possible in areas that see additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms.
