The Gallaudet Bison will join the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) as an associate member for football in 2025, the final school from East Coast Football Conference (ECFC) to announce a new conference home, signaling the dissolution of the ECFC after the 2024 season.
The school had already begun planning to take its football program independent for 2025 in case it had been unable to find another conferende home, seeking out opponents for such a schedule before reaching the deal with the ODAC. Gallaudet’s non-football programs will remain based in the United East Conference.
The ODAC will provide Gallaudet with more suitable geographic positioning with all but one of the other schools in the neighboring state of Virginia. It should also provide a much more challenging level of Division III competition for Gallaudet though which had garnered its recent success in the significantly weaker ECFC.
