The Georgetown Hoyas football team is no longer receiving votes in the FCS coaches poll after being upset in a one-sided loss to Sacred Heart. The Pioneers took the measure of Georgetown early, building a 23-14 halftime lead en route to a 40-14 runaway defeat for the Hoyas that knocked them out of FCS polling consideration.
Georgetown will look to bounce back this week in a home matchup against Brown while fellow local FCS school Howard will meet longtime archival Hampton at Audi Field in a matchup officially designated as a Hampton home game. Local FBS power Maryland will face its own FCS challenge this week against #5 FCS Villanova.
The only DC/Maryland/Virginia regional team to garner coaches poll recognition this week was Richmond which placed in an unofficial 26th, just one spot away from officially being ranked. The coaches poll led off this week with South Dakota State, North Dakota State, Montana State, Idaho jumping up one spot to 4th & the aforementioned Villanova.
