The Georgetown Hoyas entered the official women’s college soccer coaches top 25 rankings this week in 20th place, an unofficial jump of seven spots, while the Virginia Cavaliers barely held on in the coaches poll this week, falling another six places to 25th, the final official placement in the poll.
Georgetown rode the strength of dominant Big East conference victories to its renewed standing, a 5-0 home romp vs Seton Hall last Thursday followed by a 3-1 triumph last Sunday at UConn to go 7-1-4 on the season. The Hoyas continue conference play this week at Butler and hosting St. John’s.
Virginia took another loss in ACC play though, falling 3-2 last Thursday at #4 North Carolina for a three game losing streak. Conference play doesn’t get easier for the Cavaliers with an outing next at #2 Duke on Thursday before hosting unranked NC State on Sunday.
