The James Madison Dukes skyrocketed upward eleven spots to 10th in this week’s men’s college soccer coaches poll, continuing their unbeaten run at 4-0-3 on the season. Meanwhile, the Virginia Tech Hokies fell off four places in the poll to 17th and the Maryland Terrapins entered the poll in 19th place.
The Dukes made their move into the national top ten on the strength of a 2-1 win at Mount St. Mary’s followed by a more impressive 2-0 win against UCF to open Sun Belt conference play. Virginia Tech fell off the pace with a 2-0 loss at SMU but Maryland gained its new poll standing with a 1-0 win suspended game win at Indiana.
The George Mason Patriots did not officially reenter the men’s soccer poll this week but did regain votes for an unofficial tie for 29th place after a 2-1 win at Atlantic 10 rival Massachusetts to go a still impressive 6-1 to date in the 2024 season.
