Both the James Madison Dukes and Navy Midshipmen again received votes in the Associated Press media and USA Today coaches FBS college football polls this week coming off routs of their Week 5 opponents to remain undefeated. Neither team cracked the top 25 of either poll to be officially ranked though James Madison is edging closer to that threshold.
James Madison moved up one spot to an unofficial 32nd place in the Associated Press poll and four places to an unofficial 31st in the coaches poll after thrashing the MAC’s Ball State 63-7 last Saturday. The Dukes raced out to a 29-7 halftime lead then outscored the Cardinals 20-0 in the third quarter to overwhelm their outmatched opposition.
The Navy Midshipmen made a bigger jump in the AP poll, up four spots to an unofficial 36th place in the Associated Press voting and another four spots to be tied for an unofficial 37th place in the coaches poll. Navy outscored road opponent UAB 17-3 in the first half before putting the Blazers away in the second half for the 41-18 final,
James Madison & Navy remain undefeated at 4-0 with Navy also 3-0 in the American conference as traditional opposition awaits. Navy will play this week at service academy rival Air Force while James Madison will open Sun Belt conference game Saturday night at ULM.
