The Maryland Terrapins continued their rapid rise in the men’s college soccer coaches poll this week, jumping up four places to second place while the Georgetown Hoyas climbed three places, up to 14th. Virginia & James Madison regained votes with the Cavaliers an unofficial 27th place & Dukes an unofficial 28th. George Mason lost voting support though altogether.
The Terrapins started their week with a 2-0 win last Tuesday hosting fellow local & formerly ranked school George Mason followed six days later by a 1-1 home draw against then #15 UCLA. Georgetown had only one game on the week, a 2-0 home triumph against Big East rival Seton Hall. Virginia defeated both American & Syracuse while JMU beat Georgia Southern & Kentucky.
UMD continues its week after its UCLA draw with a Friday matchup at formerly ranked Michigan while Georgetown looks to continue its two game winning streak in a Wednesday matchup at Villanova followed by its regular season home finale Saturday against DePaul.
