The Maryland Terrapins plunged downward eight places to tenth in the latest men’s college soccer top 25 coaches poll after being upset in Big Ten conference play while the Georgetown Hoyas also fell four spots themselves to 18th. Additionally, James Madison clocked in at an unofficial 27th & George Mason tied for an unofficial 29th.
Maryland took an upset 2-0 loss last Friday at unranked Michigan, the Terrapins first loss of the season in conference play. Georgetown’s dropoff came after a 3-3 road draw at Villanova, after which the Hoyas rebounded for a 4-0 home win Saturday vs DePaul. James Madison lost 3-1 at South Carolina before tying then #6 West Virginia at home 2-2 while George Mason routed St. Bonaventure at home 4-1.
Regular season play in men’s college soccer will close out for most teams this week with Maryland at Rutgers tonight before hosting #1 ranked Ohio State on Sunday while Georgetown wraps up at St. John’s on Saturday. James Madison hosts Georgia State for the Dukes next to last game Friday while George Mason finishes at VCU on Saturday.
