The Maryland Terrapins rose three places to 6th this week in the men’s college soccer coaches poll while the Georgetown Hoyas rose two places to 17th. Meanwhile, James Madison, George Mason & Virginia Tech all fell out of the top 25 ranking with the Dukes now an unofficial 30th, the Patriots an unofficial 26th and the Hokies an unofficial 31st.
Maryland rode the strength of a 3-2 road win at Washington last Friday to its improved standing and a ten game unbeaten streak while Georgetown followed up a 0-0 Tuesday tie at UMBC with a 1-0 Saturday win at UConn. James Madison (1-0 loss at Virginia) & George Mason (2-1 loss vs Duquesne) both suffered key defeats though on the week.
The Maryland Terrapins start the week Tuesday against a looking to rebound George Mason followed by a Monday home match against new Big Ten rival #19 UCLA while Georgetown hosts Big Ten rival Seton Hall this Saturday. George Mason will follow up its previously mentioned road game at Maryland with another road game Saturday at Saint Joseph’s.
