Navy, Virginia Tech drop from football poll voting

The Navy Midshipmen lost voting support altogther this week in both major college football polls as did the Virginia Tech Hokies in the USA Today coaches poll after tough losses. No D.C. area team received any votes in the Associated Press poll while James Madison received a single voting point to tie for an unofficial 37th place with USA Today.

Both Navy and Virginia Tech hit the skids last Saturday with the Midshipmen upset at Rice in a extremely weather delayed game with lightning forcing three extended delays while the Hokies lost an extended length game on the field itself, falling 38-31 in overtime at Syracuse in a bid to gain bowl eligibility.

Virginia Tech will look to garner bowl eligibility this week instead as it looks for a home upset against AP #19 ranked Clemson while Navy will be on the road looking to end its losing streak at South Florida and James Madison is back from its bye week to host lower tier conference opponent Georgia State.
