A Red Flag Warning is in effect to 6 pm Wednesday, November 13, 2024 including the following Washington, DC region jurisdictions.

VIRGINIA: western Highland.
WEST VIRGINIA: western Grant, western Pendleton.

…RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EST THIS EVENING FOR VERY LOW HUMIDITY AND GUSTY WINDS ALONG THE ALLEGHENY FRONT IN WEST VIRGINIA AND VIRGINIA…

The National Weather Service in Baltimore MD/Washington DC has issued a Red Flag Warning along the Allegheny Front in West Virginia and Virginia, which is in effect until 8 PM EST this evening.

* TIMING…Until 8 PM EST this evening.

* WINDS…Southeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY…As low as 10 percent.

* IMPACTS…The combination of dry conditions, low humidity, and strong gusty winds may result in favorable conditions for the rapid spread of fires.

* FUEL MOISTURE…Dropping to around 10 percent.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
