A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect to 9:15 pm Sunday, March 16, 2025 including the following jurisdictions.

MARYLAND: southeastern Washington, central Frederick.
VIRGINIA: north central Loudoun.
WEST VIRGINIA: east central Jefferson.

Until 915 PM EDT.

At 841 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Harpers Ferry, or near Charles Town, moving northeast at 50 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

Myersville, Brownsville, Ballenger Creek, Libertytown, Utica, Woodsboro, Thurmont, Clover Hill, Petersville, Bolivar, Pleasantville, Lovettsville, Gapland, Graceham, Antietam, Lewistown, Burkittsville, Brunswick, Frederick, and Harry Grove Stadium.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature`s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
