A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect to 7:15 pm Wednesday, August 28, 2024 including the following Washington, DC region jurisdictions.

MARYLAND: east central Allegany.
WEST VIRGINIA: southwestern Morgan.

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
East central Allegany County in western Maryland…
Southwestern Morgan County in the Panhandle of West Virginia…

* Until 715 PM EDT.

* At 629 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Paw Paw, moving east at 15 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

Paw Paw, Magnolia, and Fishers Bridge.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature’s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
