A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect to 8 pm Thursday, August 29, 2024 including the following Washington, DC region jurisdictions.

VIRGINIA: south central Loudoun, west central Fairfax, southeastern Fauquier, Manassas Park, northwestern Prince William, Manassas.

* Until 800 PM EDT.

* At 723 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Linton Hall, or 9 miles southwest of Centreville, moving north at 20 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

Centreville, Linton Hall, Chantilly, Bull Run, Manassas, Sudley, Manassas Park, Gainesville, Nokesville, and Catharpin.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
