The Sioux Falls Storm indoor football team announced today that it would be dormant for the 2025 Indoor Football League season after its home arena, the Denny Sanford Premier Center, declined to offer the Storm a new league. The venue later confirmed that account to KELONEWS, citing the Storm’s declining post-COVID attendance for the decision.
The Storm will look to come back into active status for the 2026 IFL season, potentially in a new arena. Efforts were made by the team to find a new arena in the several months since the Sanford Center’s decision, per the team’s press release, but could not successfully be completed in time to come back for a 2025 campaign.
Whether temporarily or permanently, the Sioux Falls Storm leaves the Indoor Football League as one of its long standing flagship franchises, having won seven IFL league championships including six straight from 2011 through 2016.
