A Tornado Warning is in effect to 6:30 pm Sunday, March 16, 2025 including the following jurisdictions.

VIRGINIA: north central Shenandoah.
WEST VIRGINIA: east central Hardy.

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

Tornado Warning for…
North central Shenandoah County in northwestern Virginia…
East central Hardy County in eastern West Virginia…

Until 630 PM EDT.

At 618 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 7 miles northeast of Basye-Bryce Mountain, or 9 miles west of Woodstock, moving northeast at 55 mph.

HAZARD…Tornado and quarter size hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT…For those in the direct path of a tornado touchdown, flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Damage to roofs, siding, and windows may occur. Mobile homes may be damaged or destroyed. Tree damage is likely.

This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of north central Shenandoah and east central Hardy Counties, including the following locations… Perry.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.
