Both the Virginia Cavaliers and Maryland Terrapins remained in place in this week’s college field hockey poll. Virginia again clocked in at 3rd place where it has been since preseason while Maryland is in 5th place now for the second consecutive week of play.
The Cavaliers remained undefeated as they continued ACC play with a 1-0 Friday win at then #9 Duke before going on to a home Sunday win 4-1 over in-state William & Mary. Maryland had more issues in the Big Ten this week, taking a 1-0 loss vs #1 ranked Northwestern that poll voters decided not to hold against the Terrapins.
Virginia continues conference play this week, looking to extend its now 9-0 unbeaten 2024 season run at #11 Boston College on Friday before hosting #16 Louisville on Sunday. The 5-3 Maryland will meanwhile go on the road this weekend for a set of games at Big Ten rivals Indiana and #10 ranked Iowa.
