Virginia, Maryland stay top 10 in college field hockey

 
The Virginia Cavaliers and Maryland Terrapins both remained with top ten rankings in this week’s college field hockey coaches poll with Virginia again in the third spot despite taking its first loss of the season while Maryland actually fell one spot to sixth place despite two wins last week.

Virginia finally suffered defeat after nine wins to open the season last Friday, falling 3-2 at then #11 Boston College before coming back two days later to shut out then #16 Louisville 1-0 at home. Maryland defeated both Indiana 3-0 & then #10 Iowa 5-0 on the road last week but was still jumped by Michigan off its win over #4 Ohio State.

The Cavaliers host a ranked nonconference opponent this week with a challenge Sunday against #8 Saint Joseph’s while Maryland continues conference play Friday at Michigan State before itself going into non-conference play the following Monday hosting local rival American.
