The Washington Mystics and Audacy have announced a deal for WTEM 980 to be the new flagship radio station of Washington Mystics basketball, ending the Mystics long absence from the Washington, DC radio airwaves. Mystics games last aired via D.C. radio in the beginning years of the franchise on the then-WWRC 1260.
Mystics radio broadcasts this go round will be audio simulcasts of the Monumental Sports Network’s 25 remaining Mystics television airings this season with Meghan McPeak as the play by play announcer and Christy Winters-Scott as the color analyst. The four Mystics games televised exclusively via national outlets will not be on radio.
The Team 980’s airings of Washington Mystics games will start with tonight’s game from Capital One Arena against the Chicago Sky and their star rookie Angel Reese. WJFK 106.7 and WJFK 1580 will serve as alternate stations for any Mystics radio broadcasts not available via 980 due to scheduling conflicts.
