A Winter Storm Watch is now in effect from 5 am to 6 pm Sunday, January 19, 2025 including the following Washington, DC region jurisdictions.

VIRGINIA: Rockingham, Page, Rappahannock, northern Fauquier, western Highland.
WEST VIRGINIA: eastern Pendleton.

…WINTER STORM WATCH NOW IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON…

  • WHAT…Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations around 5 inches possible.
  • WHERE…Portions of northern, northwest, and western Virginia and eastern West Virginia.
  • WHEN…From late tonight through Sunday afternoon.
  • IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact travel. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation.

Persons should delay all travel if possible. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for sudden changes in visibility. Leave plenty of room between you and the
motorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to reach your destination. Avoid sudden braking or acceleration, and be especially cautious on hills or when making turns. Make sure your car is winterized and in good working order.

  • WHAT…Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations around 5 inches possible.
  • WHERE…In Maryland, Northwest Howard and Northwest Montgomery Counties. In Virginia, Eastern Loudoun and Northwest Prince William Counties.
  • WHEN…From Sunday morning through Sunday evening.

  • IMPACTS…Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions.
