The Virginia Tech Hokies rose three places to 18th and the Virginia Cavaliers rose two places to 23rd in this week’s women’s college soccer coaches poll while the Georgetown Hoyas, previously ranked at 18th last week, dropped off the official top 25 rankings to an unofficial 29th place.
Virginia Tech scored a 1-0 win hosting new ACC member SMU last Thursday while Virginia beat NC State at home on Thursday then scored its own home win, 2-1, over SMU last Sunday. Georgetown was not so fortunate, as it fell off the poll following its 1-0 road defeat at the DePaul Blue Demons last Sunday.
While the Hokies will enjoy a rare respite from competition in the new week, Virginia will continue its campaign this Thursday at #22 Florida State while Georgetown looks to regain its standing at Providence this Thursday followed by a home match Sunday against Marquette.
